°¬²æAƬ County Borough Council are currently looking for passionate individuals to join our ‘Litter Champion’ scheme. If this sounds like you, please . Please use a browser such as Chrome, Edge or Safari to use this service. It will not work in Internet Explorer.
In order for us to raise the standard of cleanliness in the borough, we would love to give volunteers the opportunity to make a difference by organising their very own litter pick. Litter picking can be fun and rewarding, as well as a great way to get some exercise.
Once you’ve signed up and received a short safety induction from our colleagues at Keep Wales Tidy, you will be provided with a kit containing the following:
- A reflective hi-visibility waistcoat
- Litter picker
- Gloves
- Bags
What we ask you to do
For the purpose of our performance data, we encourage our volunteers to record the occasions they litter pick and how many bags they collect. This data goes toward showing the impact that our Litter Champions have within the borough.
To record your data, you must first be a registered Litter champion. Once you’ve received your induction, you will then be able to record your data by visiting the section on the °¬²æAƬ Mobile App, alternatively you can also ring 01495 311556.
Safety
The Health and Safety of all our volunteers is of the upmost importance to us and as a Litter Champion you will be required to receive a short safety induction. This will ensure you are covered under the Keep Wales Tidy insurance scheme and is specifically designed for registered champions only. This insurance scheme does not cover anyone who wishes to join you or large groups.
If you wish to lead a group or are part of an existing group of volunteers, please contact: group.funding@keepwalestidy.cmyru and you will be provided with information on obtaining group insurance.
Each time that you carry out a litter pick, you will be responsible for assessing the conditions on the day. This might include, icy conditions, poor visibility, high winds etc. If you have concerns, please do not go ahead with your litter pick.
We can provide you with guidance and advice, but you will be responsible for your own safety, so please refrain from taking any unnecessary risks.
