The Chief Medical Officer for Wales has said that those most at risk from coronavirus can stop shielding after 16th August 2020. Those currently shielding will receive a letter, known as a ‘shielding letter’ which will inform them of this development and what to do next.
The current direct food delivery service for those shielding will also come to an end. However, all supermarkets who offer home delivery in Wales will be sent details of people who have received a shielding letter. Priority delivery slots will then be offered for those considered particularly vulnerable to coronavirus. You can register for home delivery services through the supermarkets’ websites. If you are unable to get essential supplies or family and friends cannot help you with shopping the shielding letter explains that you should contact the council.
