The River Centre 3-16 Learning Community Secondary Campus is to close temporarily for 2 weeks.
The Secondary Campus has had to consider the safety of continued operations, due to the self-isolation status of both school and support service staff. The high level of self-isolation currently being experienced is not due to an increase in positive cases within the school, but as a direct result of an increase in the prevalence of the COVID-19 virus both throughout the area and region.
After working to explore all possible options, and in consideration of the fact that the safety and wellbeing of all pupils and staff is of paramount importance, on the advice of the Local Authority, it has been decided that the Secondary Campus will temporarily close.
To be clear, The River Centre 3-16 Learning Community is not closing and the Primary Campus and Ty-Afon will remain open and pupils should still attend as normal next week.
Secondary Learners will continue to be supported and provided for via distance and remote learning. The closure will come into effect from Friday, 9th October 2020, for a period of 2 weeks.
We want to assure you that effective safety measures have and continue to be in place within The River Centre 3-16 Learning Community which are followed strictly to limit any cross-contamination.
