Opportunities to help create the Valleys Regional Park

The proposals for the VRP were developed by the people of the Valleys, such as voluntary, community and public sector organisations, including local authorities and Natural Resources Wales. The proposals are presented in the VRP prospectus, which can be found at:

The VRP approach will build on the existing partnerships and involve engagement with people and organisations from across the Valleys.

We are currently recruiting for the roles that will assist with the delivery of the VRP, with four opportunities advertised to work in the support team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the creation of the VRP and to help to develop new ways of working by engaging with communities and a wide range of stakeholders.  The roles provide the opportunity to influence the development of Welsh Government policy and use creative ways to deliver activities that will tangibly benefit Valleys communities.

The advertised roles reflect the VRP’s core themes:

·         Landscape, Culture and Identity;
·         Recreation and Wellbeing; and
·         Communities and Enterprise.

We are looking to develop a team with a broad range of experience and skills from organisations across all sectors.

This balance is vital in order to challenge the way we currently work, and ensure we grasp the opportunity for the VRP to be a truly collaborative and forward focussed initiative.

The posts will be hosted by Bridgend County Borough Council and initially be filled on secondment for 18 months, to the end of March 2021. The posts will operate on a flexible working basis, with options for homeworking and hot-desking at locations across the Valleys.

Please contact Phil Lewis, VRP lead, if you have any questions in relation to the VRP or the advertised posts – Phil.Lewis2@gov.wales.

Closing date – 28/08/2019
