New Vale Household Waste and Recycling Centre Now Open

°¬˛ćAƬ County Borough Council will reopen its New Vale Household Waste and Recycling Centre (HWRC) on Tuesday 26 May.

Restrictions will be put in place to dispose of small amounts of waste.  All visits will only be made by appointment.  This is to ensure that visits to the centre are managed in a safe and structured way to protect residents and workers and to comply with the current advice on social distancing.

To safely manage the opening of the HWRC, only cars will be permitted.  Pre-booking will be essential, and residents will be required to bring proof of address with them.  Failing to do so will result in vehicles being turned away.

If residents or members of their household have symptoms of COVID19 or are currently shielding, please do not visit the site.

Full details on how to book an appointment and guidelines for your visit will be available on the Council’s website:

Councillor Joanna Wilkins, °¬˛ćAƬ County Council, Executive Member for Environment Said:

“Throughout the lockdown, the Council has maintained full kerbside collections including refuse, recycling, garden and nappy / hygiene waste services.  Therefore, we are asking residents to only book a visit to the HWRC if this is essential and you cannot safely store these items at home or dispose of them through kerbside collections.  We recently reintroduced Bulky Waste Collections and encourage residents to utilise this service for disposing of bulky items.

Lockdown continues in Wales and non-essential use puts yourself, other members of the public and our staff at risk from spreading the virus. Therefore, only make a visit if it is essential.

Full details on how to book an appointment and guidelines for your visit is available on the Council’s website www.blaenau-gwent.gov.uk

We would prefer you to book an appointment online, as our Contact Centre is currently focusing on providing support to our most vulnerable in the community.  If you cannot access online services, please ask a member of your family or a friend to book an online slot on your behalf.  If this isn’t possible, please contact us on 01495 311556.

Thank you for your patience."
