#FosterLocal and make a difference that will last a lifetime

°¬˛ćAƬ Council are joining other local authorities across Gwent to promote a new Autumn fostering campaign that looks to encourage more families and individuals to come forward and foster a child or young person in need.

Running from the 12th – 31st October 2020, the online social media campaign will promote the many unique benefits of becoming a foster carer with the local authority and will celebrate the positive outcomes fostering a child can have.

We know that for many residents in °¬˛ćAƬ, the impact of COVID19 has been life changing.
With continued uncertainty around work, lockdowns and having to spend more time at home, it has presented everybody with an opportunity to reflect more on the things that matter the most to them.
Whether that is spending more precious time at home with the family, starting a new career, or doing something inspirational that not only has a positive impact on their lives, but others too, the pandemic has no doubt been a defining moment for many.

Executive Member for Social Services - Councillor John Mason says:

“Fostering a child or young person is wholly rewarding especially in these very difficult times we want to offer an environment where they can feel safe, allowing them to be themselves, offer them support and guidance and develop that friendly trusting relationship…it will mean the world to them”.

Fostering really can make a big difference in their lives; and yours; it is a wonderful thing.

We are looking for all types of foster carers so don’t let something small be a barrier, there are fostering opportunities available for all backgrounds, if you have a nurturing nature then you are definitely the right person to foster.”

Foster carer Angela says:

“As a new foster carer it has been both challenging and rewarding learning about my foster child at their own pace. I have also come to realise how to parent in a different way.”
