The Council’s Scrutiny Committee has noted the Welsh Audit Office (WAO) report; Delivering with Less at today’s meeting (Thursday 27 February 2020). Option one has been approved by the committee; members have considered the report and support the officer’s response to the WAOs recommended proposals.
The follow up review acknowledges that a previous audit of the Council’s Environmental Health Services was published in October 2014 by the WAO.
This current report touches upon the 2014 Auditor General’s review and where the actions have been implemented. WAO has concluded that the Council has made progress addressing the recommendations raised in 2014, for example:
• Priorities being agreed and documented in the service business plan.
• Environmental health services routinely considered by the Council’s scrutiny arrangements.
Councillor Joanna Wilkins, Chair of Community Services Scrutiny Committee says:
“Following the initial Auditor General’s report in 2014, actions proposed were implemented previously. This current review is a follow up that focused on the Council addressing certain recommendations and WAO are satisfied with the progress that the Council has made. Further recommendations have been made and the Council will continue to assess the service.”
