Celebrating Business Success

A number of local °¬˛ćAƬ businesses that were successful in their application for the BG Effect Business fund have been enjoying their first BG Effect Fund Anniversary and sharing their success of the first year of business trading.

Christian Paul applied for BG Effect Business funding last year to assist with the purchase of tools to support his business start-up “Christian Paul Handyman and Garden Services”.  Christian has developed a regular customer base and has a number of garden maintenance contracts in place, including the management of Japanese Knotweed. Christian said:

“BG Effect Funding was a great help with my initial business start-up helping cover the cost of my equipment and therefore taking away some of the stress and pressure of the large financial investment I needed to make.  Having to create a business plan helped me focus closely on my needs and one year on, I have a successful Handyman & Garden Services Business with numerous regular customers”.

Ashley Trow successfully applied for BG Effect Funding last summer to start up The Barber Lounge in Llanhilleth.  Ashley has also enjoyed a good first trading year and offers both walk-in sessions via his active Facebook page, along with general booked appointments.  Ashley has won awards related to his barbering skills and due to business growth, is currently advertising to take on an apprentice looking to start a career in this growing service sector. Ashley commented:

â€śThe BG Effect Funding helped me do something I love - every day making someone feel better about themselves!  I had a vision and this is just the start!”

The BG Effect Fund grant scheme which has been in “effect” since November 2017 has supported 25 new business and 31 full time positions start-ups in °¬˛ćAƬ.

The application process provides referral support for those who need assistance in preparing a business plan and a dedicated business development officer provides weekly business drop in sessions throughout libraries in °¬˛ćAƬ each Friday between 10am-12pm for anyone who wishes to chat through a business idea.  No appointment is needed.
