This year Carers Week is focusing on building communities which support carers to look after their loved ones well, while recognising that they are individuals with their own needs.

Carers Week is brought to life by the support of individuals, groups and organisations holding events and taking positive actions towards carers.

To celebrate this year °¬²æAƬ Council have teamed up with our Third Sector Partners Alzheimer’s Society, Age Cymru -Gwent, GAVO, Macmillan Cancer Support and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to bring you a host of information sessions throughout the borough. Please pop along for a free confidential chat, share stories as well as pick up some handy information leaflets about what support is available to you in your caring role.

As well as the free information sessions held throughout the week, a morning event has also been arranged on Wednesday 14th June in the lovely tranquil setting of Bedwellty House, Bedwellty Park, Tredegar giving carers a chance to relax, unwind and enjoy listening to a guest singer and keyboard player, coffee/tea and buffet is also being provided, with a chance to take part in a Chinese Auction/Raffle with lots of lovely prizes are available to be won. (Invite only)

Councillor John Mason, Executive Member for Social Service said:

“We never underestimate how important you as carers are! We appreciate the hugely important role carers have in providing health and happiness to those in need of care.  We as a council applaud our communities’ ‘unsung heroes’ and will continue to show our support wherever we can.â€
