This service will be offered in partnership with Mitie, who have been providing pest control services for over forty years.
Domestic households will be able to receive treatments for rat infestations free of charge. The treatment of other pests, for example mice, cockroaches, bed bugs, fleas, ants or wasps, will be chargeable. There will be a 50% concessionary discount for those on qualifying benefits.
The service will be funded by part of the rise in council tax introduced in the most recent budget.
Cllr Haydn Trollope said:
“The Let’s Talk events demonstrated that pest control is an area that concerns local residents, so we’ve listened to their views and taken action. We are proud to be able to bring this service back, to help keep our streets and homes problem-free and to better protect public health.”
The pest control service will be available from Monday 3rd April 2017. Any residents interested in receiving services should contact Mitie direct on 0344 335 0330 or by email mpc.gwent@mitie.com
