The investment includes the introduction of town centre cleaning on a Saturday, increasing capacity in the cleansing team to clean more streets across °¬˛ćAƬ, focusing on litter picking, sweeping up debris and removing chewing gum.
An additional team of three will also be appointed to improving cleanliness across the residential streets and rear lanes, removing graffiti, power washing highways signs, bus shelters and illuminated bollards.
The street cleansing team will also improve the dog fouling service, working with ward members to identify problem areas across the Council to target efforts to clearing and disinfecting areas affected.
The executive committee also agreed to increasing weed spraying across the area to three sprays a year with the aim to reduce weed growth over time.
Finally, the Council are going to review the grass cutting service and put forward further proposals for consideration in the autumn ready for implementation in the summer of 2018/19.

“We have listened to the feedback we have received from the public and a tidy and clean environment is important to the people of °¬˛ćAƬ. We have responded to that feedback by agreeing to invest ÂŁ158,000 into the street cleansing service this year and will be monitoring and evaluating its impact over the year.”
